Fried Herb Yeast Rolls

These dinner rolls are packed with garlicky, herbaceous goodness.

Ingredient:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup olive oil, plus more for greasing
  • 6 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup chopped mixed fresh herbs (such as sage, rosemary, parsley, and thyme)
  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar, divided
  • 4 teaspoons sea salt
  • 1/2 cup plus 1 teaspoon warm water (100°F to 110°F), divided
  • 4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 large eggs
  • 5 cups (about 21 1/4 ounces) bread flour
  • Flaky sea salt, to taste
