Our honey challah is a braided bread that can be made with three, four or even six strands. In this tutorial, we'll walk you through making a gorgeous six-stranded braid.

Ingredient:

  • 2 packages (1/4 ounce each) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1-1/2 cups warm water (110° to 115°), divided
  • 5 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2/3 cup plus 1 teaspoon honey, divided
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 6 to 7 cups bread flour
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 cups golden raisins
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
